Daytona Beach Shores
Daytona Beach Shores was founded in 1960 by local business leaders who were convinced that a smaller community could provide better services to residents. “The Shores”, as it is known locally, is located on a 5.5-mile stretch of the peninsula on the beachside and is home to Volusia County’s premier luxury condominium community. A privately-operated executive golf course and city-owned tennis facility accentuate the upscale ambiance of Daytona Beach Shores.
Daytona Beach Shores has a population of around 5,200 year-round residents, but can host more than 25,000 people during special events and festivals. The city is home to various attractions, including the Court of Flags and the Living Legends of Auto Racing Hall of Fame. Along with a vibrant community center, the city added a senior center in 1999 and the Oceans Racquet and Recreation Club in 2001.
Daytona Beach Shores is the only community in Volusia County to employ a “true” public safety system. Public Safety Officers are trained to handle police, fire and emergency medical duties. This provides residents with increased citizen protection and the most rapid emergency response times in Volusia County.
